Enhancing Child Development Through Short Interactive Sessions at Nursery

This week at Nursery, we launched our half-termly Extra Curricular activities for this period. Since not all children have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities at home, Wellingtons provides a variety of these activities throughout the week for children in Rainbows.

These small group activities enable children to explore different themes and encourage language development, sharing, taking turns, and building confidence.

The benefits of short interactive sessions include:

• Enhanced physical and motor skills development by motivating children to use their bodies and hands in diverse ways.

• Improved mental development and memory retention by challenging children to strategise, recall, and apply their learning.

• Promoting social development by encouraging collaboration, teamwork, and trust among children.

• Building friendships and relationships by helping children to accept losses and celebrate victories.

The sessions are designed to last only fifteen minutes, as short, visually supported, and interactive sessions capture children’s brief attention spans, aiding in more effective learning and longer retention of information. These brief sessions also make learning more engaging for young children, boosting their motivation and interest in the subject matter.

Further details of these sessions can be found on the General Information Section of our website.
