Spring 2 2026
This term the children explored the theme of growth. They particularly enjoyed using magnifying glasses to examine mini beasts, both inside and out. Some children had the opportunity to visit the local garden centre, where they purchased flowers, herbs and fruit to plant back at nursery. The children were able to identify how to help plants grow by watering them, that also watched in awe as out caterpillars grew in size, eventually forming into chrysalis before emerging as butterflies. Spring 1 2026
This term we introduced a new topic to Wellingtons- Dinosaurs! The Big Question running through the topic was How do we Travel? The topical area of provision turned into a dinosaur utopia, where children used their imagination to explore the amazing world of dinosaurs. We hatched dinosaur eggs, went digging for bones, named sized dinosaurs and sized dinosaurs. We explored the local environment using our senses. December 2025
It has been a mammoth three weeks of December packed with seasonal activities, concerts and Christmas lunches. Fiona and Jo led two external events this year, supported by members of our local community centre- Brunch with Santa and a Christmas Extravaganza! The Wellingtons and Wellies at Whinmoor team hope you all have a festive Christmas break and wish you a very Happy New Year!
